Emily Kircher-Morris, LPC
The number one thing that I love about my job is that I get to see the change as it happens for my clients. I've worked as both a teacher for gifted programming and as a school counselor prior to entering private practice and those experiences have helped to shape my perspective on how individuals change. My goal is to help all of my clients move toward being their "best self."
I specialize in counseling identified gifted and other high-ability learners. I feel that viewing the unique needs of these individuals through the lens of giftedness is necessary to be effective in helping them to grow. Some of the concerns I find high-ability children and adults struggling with most are perfectionism, existential depression, and twice-exceptionalism (for example, both gifted and ADHD, on the autism spectrum, or with a mood disorder).
Another area of passion for me is helping women deal with infertility, miscarriage, and postpartum depression and anxiety. The experience of mothering is beautiful and hard. Women need to know that they aren't alone during difficult times, even when topics such as these continue to be stigmatized.
